New Diet & Special Stem Cell Program Proves Successful in Killing off Cancer

Many forms of cancer reprogram themselves so they can thrive in low oxygen. Two methods of exploiting this to kill off such tumors were independently and almost simultaneously developed some 20 odd years ago by a NASA scientist, Dr. Clarence Cone, Jr., and a biological theorist, Dr. Anthony G. Payne. Dr. Payne ultimately incorporated elements of Dr. Cone's work in his own which gave birth to "The Metabolic Oncolytic Regimen". This novel approach plus special cord blood stem cells are being used as part of a new individualized cancer treatment program by a progressive clinic just across the US border in Mexico. Early experiments indicate that this method works to shrink and even eliminate solid tumors that flourish in the presence of low oxygen levels.
San Diego, CA -- Recently, Johns Hopkins researchers announced that some cancer cells, kidney in their studies, had "reprogrammed" their metabolic machinery in a way that favors using less oxygen (A state called "hypoxia") www.hopkinsmedicine.org/Press_releases/2007/05_07a_07.html.
This work dovetails with other studies and theories that go all the way back to a line of reasoning and research on cancer undertaken by Nobel laureate Otto Warburg in the 1930s. The fact some forms of cancer can switch to low oxygen pathways to generate fuel for their growth is being exploited in a new treatment program by a research-oriented groups of doctors at the Ramirez clinic in Mexico and is helping eradicate solid tumors in patients.
The new cancer program utilizes a combination of special stem cells and a unique dietary regimen. The dietary aspect originated in the United States in the mid-1980s. At that time two men, a NASA scientist named Clarence Cone, Jr., Ph.D. and a biological theorist, Anthony G. Payne, Ph.D., independently came up with regimens that take deal lethal blow to hypoxic tumors. The approach both men came up with involves getting hypoxic tumors to churn out lactic acid while simultaneously blocking its excretion from the tumor. This causes the tumor to become very acidic; so much so that tumor cell die-off occurs. Dr. Payne ultimately incorporated elements of the Cone method in his own.
Dr. Payne's approach, dubbed (by him)"The Metabolic Oncolytic Regimen" during the 1990s, targets "hypoxic microclusters" within tumors while at the same time also setting the stage for eradicating the non-hypoxic regions of tumors.
Both Dr. Cone's and Dr. Payne's regimens produced partial and complete remissions in cancer patients with a variety of tumor types during the 1980s and 1990s.
Dr. Cone's method was ultimately awarded 2 patents by the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Dr. Payne's body of work, which drew on Cone's in part, was published on various websites and also in the free access online scientific journal, "Medical Hypotheses & Research".
It is Dr. Payne's "Metabolic Oncolytic Regimen" that has been employed as part of a new, comprehensive, integrative cancer program offered in Mexico by Fernando Ramirez, MD and his team of nurses, oncologist consultants, technicians, and visiting scientists.
As part of this new program, patients are put on the Metabolic Oncolytic Regimen (MOR) and, when appropriate, also given intravenous (IV) infusions of cord blood stem cells that churn out interleukin-2 and gamma-interferon (Proteins that produce anti-tumor responses in the recipient's body). Because stem cells tend to thrive in low oxygen or hypoxic tissues, they are by nature drawn to hypoxic tumors. Stem cells are also attracted to solid tumors by growth factors they secrete.
Many of the cancer patients treated by the Ramirez team will also receive dendritic cell vaccines that rally the body to attack cancer cells that display a specific and cancer-unique molecular signal called "carcinonembryonic antigen 1" (CEA-1).
The marriage of these complementary approaches with individualized anti-tumor measures has proven of benefit to many cancer patients during an early testing phase. While the Ramirez program is new, it is expected to produce laudable results in people with hypoxic tumors. In experiments that led up to this new program, a 72 year old gentleman with prostate cancer that spread to his bones was given interleukin 2 & gamma interferon expressing cord blood stem cells and placed on "The Metabolic Oncolytic Regimen". He went into total remission and is now out-and-about dancing and once again enjoying life.
