Many people are frustrated with dieting. You probably know someone that has tried many diets without lasting success. Millions of people try to diet each year and spend big bucks on diet crazes, only to fall off the wagon. Trying to figure it all out can be confusing with all of the new "miracle" fad diets on tv.

With so many diets to choose from and so much contradictory information out there, it can be very difficult to choose a diet that is helpful. If you are trying to lose weight, here are some very easy common sense tips on losing weight and keep it off.

When choosing a diet, make sure that it is practical and nutritionally balanced. Avoiding consuming one type of food might not always make sense.

For instance, most people on the Atkins diet have lost weight, but cutting out or severely limiting carbohydrates for long periods of time has negative health implications. Most nutrition experts agree that a healthy diet includes all types of foods from lean meats to fruits, vegetables and grains.

Haphazardly cutting out one basic food group isn't the best way to attain a healthy body.

Make sure your food is easy to prepare. A lot of people spend hundreds of dollars a month on special diet foods that taste like cardboard and are extremely hard to find - usually only available at one source. You can easily visit your supermarket and purchase fresh fruits and vegetables and eat healthily.

Most dieters that are successful agree that eating specially prepared foods will not last forever. You need to learn how to eat right and healthy. Learn about tasty recipes that are easy to prepare and use basic ingredients such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and fresh fish and meats.

Remember, the path to health and fitness is balance. Dieting isn't an instant solution. Every piece in the puzzle has to fit or the picture never gets completed.
